The Yellow School Bus is an American Icon. It is a symbol of school bus safety but also is an iconic image of American Education and our schools. It represents safety and the best traditions of our schools and education system.

In New York State, over 2.3 million children ride a yellow school bus to and from school each day. We believe that it is our role as school transportation professionals to ensure that that the school bus ride should be a safe and secure ride.

A Diamond in the Bus: This year we commemorate the 60 year history of school transportation education conferences in New York State. At this year's conference, we will take opportunities to celebrate that history and the events that have evolved over those many years.

Our theme of "A DIAMOND IN THE BUS" suggests the often understated value and contributions of the Yellow School Bus in our schools and our communities. It's a time to shine up that Diamond and share our story first among ourselves and then with our public!
Growth Cap: The Legislature rejected the Governor’s proposal for a 2% growth cap on all Expense-Based Aids, including Transportation Aid in future fiscal years. Members should be proud of the work of our Legislative Committee and the Board in SUCCESSFULLY combating this proposal.

As we all “start our engines” to provide students across the State a safe ride to and from school…let’s remember how we make it happen. You know, “The under the hood” stuff. That is all of you!! I encourage you to remain active and up-to-date on all aspects of transportation. Your association provides you the road map to success!! Be an active member of your local Chapter meetings, sign-up for a Webinar, join a Committee, be present at a Board Meeting, or attend a Conference. If your anything like me, do them all. These tools help to accelerate your passion, your drive and your minds!!
